I’ve been a licensed psychologist in Texas since 1997. Over the years, I've developed and refined my own approach to psychotherapy.
A good fit with a strong connection is the base, and I go from there to decide which techniques might be most helpful.
As the client, I've had my own therapy, and I know that it works. I think this should be a requirement for all therapists.
As a psychologist, I've watched people get better for almost 30 years.
#1 - They don't have time to add another commitment.
#2 - They can survive whatever is happening, and therapy is for when it gets "really bad."
The thought of telling someone your life story can be daunting.
It can be so hard to choose a therapist based on websites and online profiles.
You may feel exhausted, embarrassed, or scared.
This is all normal! Almost all of the time, the discomfort of getting started doesn't last and is worth it.
Some clients feel hopeful right away, knowing that they now have help and support.

A few tidbits about me: I love to walk my dog, travel, scuba dive, read, dance, practice yoga, hike, cook, and enjoy fine food and wine.
I think that women have extra stress on top of life's challenges. This is because of social pressure to be thin, not age, and take care of everyone else.
I don't always talk about this with my clients, but it's part of my strong compassion for women, and my desire to help them through the difficult times.
